!
This is the space for friends of DAIN , whether staff, volunteer, partners or beyond, to share ideas and comments on anything they feel maybe of interest to others. And you will get a big bar of chocolate if you do!
If you can’t think of an idea – then please tell us what has stopped you from making a post or comment in the past. Is it time, is it nerves, is it all just nonsense you feel?
Let us know – we are a research project and we’re here to learn!
Who’s for chocolate (or for the strange people who don’t like chocolate out there we’ll find you something else equally exciting)?

I had a client on Tuesday who wanted to incorporate some pictures in a Word document. I found that Word had all its functionality grayed out apart from printing. Office 2007 had been downloaded onto the machine but no product key was entered. It was suggested that Open Office could be loaded onto the machine as it’s Freeware. Are there any reasons why I couldn’t do this for them? I’d be interested in views on this as I had another issue when anti-virus software wasn’t working on another machine and it would be useful, not to say imperative to load something like AVG free edition.

Different regions have different dialogue for example in Leicester where I live. You may be greeted with the saying ay up me duck which means hello. Ark at it! means listen to something. Does your area have a word or saying you would like to share?

Hi Linda
Thanks for your comment – you win the biggest bar of chocolate as the first to make a suggestion. As a Derby girl I’m aware of some of the lingo peculiar to our region, and you often don’t realise it is local until you go out of town. I know we have DAs from far and wide so would be interested to hear what the rest of the team have to say about this too.
Thanks again for your comment, bw Andria
