About
Tackling Technology Together leaflet
What’s DAIN?
The Digital Activist Inclusion Network (DAIN) is an exciting volunteer project working across the East Midlands. DAIN aims to promote digital inclusion by encouraging people to use technology with the help of volunteers (Digital Activists).
We’re looking for enthusiastic, unemployed people with experience of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) who can commit a few hours a week. Digital Activists will be open to new opportunities as well as being friendly and approachable.
Digital Activists will work with a nationallyrecognised charity, the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) and be active in local communites by promoting the use of technology
Key purpose of the DAIN project
DAIN is an action research volunteer project part funded by the European Social Fund and designed to develop, test and deliver approaches to challenge the digital divide and help widen participation in employment and learning across the East Midlands.

I have received training for ‘How To Be a Digital Activist’. Now I am engaged as Digital Activist in drop-in sessions organised by the Project Administrator in our region. I have found the volunteering work for this project to be very interesting and challenging. I get chance to learn even more by tackling problems for the community members who needed help with! It gives me chance to develop by learning some very important skills like: face to face situation, problem solving, time management, customer service skills, development of knowledgebase about technology etc. While offering my help to the community under this project, I have also undergone further training with Abilitynet; which has helped to develop myself for helping the people who have learning difficulties.
I will continue to offer my time as a volunteer for this project to help the member of the public, who need help to tackle digital technology issues.
